What it does

Pocket Invoice is a free invoicing product for freelancers and small businesses, with a web app and iOS and Android apps that share one account. Its hosted MCP server connects an AI client to that account over Streamable HTTP at https://api.freedominvoice.com/mcp, so documents can be created and managed in ordinary language from a chat. The official MCP guide is the setup and feature source for this record; the product team submitted the server for this catalog and confirmed it is proprietary hosted software with no public source repository or downloadable package.

Per the guide, the connected client can create, find, edit, copy, and convert invoices, estimates, and purchase orders, generate PDFs with the saved company template, manage customers and catalog items, record payments and expenses, and read sales, tax, and profit-and-loss reports. Creating a document or generating a PDF does not send anything: sending is a separate step that shows the recipients and document for review and confirmation first. The same guide states the limits plainly: deleting records, managing teams, projects, appointments, schedules, and recurring tasks are not available through MCP, and the tools record payments rather than charging a card or transferring money. It is an invoicing tool, not a replacement for full bookkeeping, payroll, or tax filing.

Configuration

Add an MCP server named Pocket Invoice with Streamable HTTP transport and url https://api.freedominvoice.com/mcp, then choose Authenticate and sign in to Pocket Invoice, select one company, review the permissions, and allow access. Codex command line: codex mcp add pocket-invoice --url https://api.freedominvoice.com/mcp, then codex mcp login pocket-invoice. No npm server package is needed; the tools run on the Pocket Invoice server.

Tools and features on record

  • create_invoice Config checked

Creates an unsent invoice in the connected account using its company currency and PDF template; amounts and numbering are calculated on the server. Does not send email.

  • create_estimate Config checked

Creates an estimate or quote in the connected company's currency, using the saved template.

  • get_document_pdf Config checked

Generates a PDF of an existing document with the company's saved logo and template, returned as a download link valid for one hour.

  • Send documents Config checked

Prepares a document for emailing to the saved customer; recipients and document are reviewed and confirmed before sending, and the sending result can be checked afterwards.

  • Reports Config checked

Reads sales, payments, taxes, expenses, and profit-and-loss reports for the connected company, within the granted permissions and team access.

Security notes

Security notes
  • The hosted MCP server uses authorization for the user's invoice account: setup requires signing in to Pocket Invoice, selecting one company, and reviewing and allowing the requested permissions. Tools are limited by that company, the permissions granted, and team access.
  • Creating a document or exporting a PDF does not send it automatically; each send is prepared for review and requires confirmation first.
  • Payment tools record payments received; they do not charge a card or transfer money.

An MCP server runs with the permissions of the process you start it from. Scope credentials to the narrowest access the job needs, and review what the client will send before connecting anything sensitive.
